Labor day is the first Monday in September. It is believed that Peter McGuire was the man who founded labor day. Labor day is to show respect to the American workers and show there achievements. The first labor day was on September 5,1882. The first governmental recognition came through municipal ordinances passed during 1885 and 1886. Read more here
